Vol. 542 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Appointments.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

295 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans he has to provide funding to appoint a second rheumatology team at Waterford Regional Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24976/01]

I am pleased to advise the Deputy that I have recently given financial approval to the South Eastern Health Board for the appointment of a second consultant rheumatologist at Waterford Regional Hospital. I am confident this appointment will impact favourably on those patients waiting for treatment. I understand the South Eastern Health Board has now begun the process for the recruitment of the consultant rheumatologist and support staff.
