Vol. 543 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Transport.

John Perry

Question:

517 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 121 of 11 October 2001, he will outline the progress which has been made on the extension of the bus service; if Bus Éireann has submitted its report; when a decision will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27763/01]

A report has been received regarding the family in question. The family resides one mile from the nearest pick up point on an existing service to Sligo town post primary centre. This is considered to be within the guidelines and an adequate service in the context of the general operation of the scheme.

As extra cost would be incurred in extending the route as requested and a number of other pupils would be inconvenienced, the present arrangement is the most that can be offered in this case.

Question No. 518 answered with Question No. 516.
