Vol. 544 No. 3

Written Answers. - Freedom of Information.

John McGuinness

Question:

338 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to a previous parliamentary question and correspondence, he will request the hospital to release the files required by way of reply to this parliamentary question or the two requests under the Freedom of Information Act made by the family; the reason the hospital has to have sufficient reason to release the records to this person's parents (details supplied); the reason the hospital is making it difficult for the family; the reason the information is being withheld; and if the hospital will issue the information. [28959/01]

As previously expressed to the Deputy in response to his parliamentary question of 1 May 2001, Question No. 338, I understand that Beaumont Hospital were previously unable to identify the request for information from the details supplied. However, I further understand that an application under the Freedom of Information Act, 1997, was received by Beaumont Hospital on the 23 October 2001 and acknowledged on the 31 October 2001. The hospital is now in correspondence with the applicant in the matter.
