Vol. 545 No. 1

Written Answers. - Employment Statistics.

Denis Naughten

Question:

91 Mr. Naughten asked the Taoiseach the number of people in full-time employment in each year form 1997 to 2001 inclusive in County Roscommon and County Longford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29722/01]

Annual statistics on the level of employment were based on the labour force survey up to April 1997; and from the end of 1997 quarterly statistics have been available from the quarterly national household survey. Results from these surveys are compiled at State and regional level only. The most recent county figures are from the 1996 census of population and the next census is scheduled for April 2002.

The following table provides relevant regional estimates for the 1997-2001 period.
