Vol. 545 No. 2

Written Answers. - Inland Waterways.

Ulick Burke

Question:

70 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will provide funding to clean the Woodford river in County Galway; if he will protect this waterway to allow it to re-establish itself as a fishing river; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30142/01]

The Woodford river is a tributary of Lough Derg which is within the Shannon fisheries region. The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board informs me that it proposes to prepare, in co-operation with the local community, a comprehensive plan for the development of Lough Derg and its tributaries to be submitted for funding under the angling development measure of the National Development Plan 2000 to 2006.
