Written Answers. - Asylum Seekers.

Joe Higgins

Question:

153 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the number of people seeking asylum here whose applications for asylum have been refused who have taken their own lives since January 1996; and the age, sex and country of origin of origin of these persons. [30398/01]

Following consultation with the relevant agencies in the asylum process, I am informed that no information is available of the type sought by the Deputy.
