Vol. 545 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Liam Aylward

Question:

180 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has received an application for remedial works to be carried out at a primary school (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if his attention has been drawn to the urgency of such works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30394/01]

My Department has received a report from the school authorities referred to by the Deputy detailing works that they consider necessary to the school building. My Department has forwarded an application form to the board of management for completion. As soon as the form is received, my Department's building unit will assess the case having regard to the priority to be afforded to such projects. Decisions relating to the progress of projects to construction, including a proposed project at the school in question will be taken in the light of the allocations to be made for school building purposes and when all budget decisions have been taken by the Government.
