Vol. 551 No. 3

Written Answers. - Pharmacy Service.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

167 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Health and Children when he expects the report of the pharmacy review group; his plans to address the issues arising from the revocation of the 1996 pharmacy contractor regulations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10468/02]

The pharmacy review group, which held its first meeting on 2 November 2001, was established to examine the pharmacy issues raised in the OECD report on regulatory reform in Ireland and it is now being asked to report as quickly as possible, in view of the revocation of the relevant regulations. The type of framework, whether statutory or otherwise, required for community pharmacy services will be considered when the group reports. I am considering a number of options pending the completion of the work of the group.
