Question:

218 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position in relation to a petition submitted to him on 12 February 2001 in respect of a fine under the Litter Pollution Act, 1997, imposed on a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10451/02]

On 12 February 2001 an application to open a petition was received from the person to whom the Deputy refers. The application was unsuccessful and a reply to that effect issued to the person concerned on 2 May 2001. A petition was not opened in the matter.
