Vol. 553 No. 2

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31 dealing with three different topics. I propose to deal with these topics separately and I will call on the Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the need to have, as a matter of urgency, the text of the Government's declaration on neutrality to be attached to the Nice treaty set before the Dáil so that Dáil Éireann can debate the proposed declaration before it is presented to the EU summit in Seville for approval.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be in order in accordance with Standing Order 31.

On a point of order, a Cheann Comhairle—

The Deputy may not raise a point of order. The Chair has ruled on the matter.

When would it be appropriate to raise the matter?

If the Deputy wishes to call to the office of the Ceann Comhairle we can discuss the matter. I am not permitting a discussion on the matter now.

I am not looking for a discussion on it now.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the extreme difficulties being encountered by the agricultural sector as a result of severe weather conditions and its impact on farming, the supply of food commodities and the possible future impact on the rural environment.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be in order in accordance with Standing Order 31.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the decision by Comhairle na nOspidéal to transfer all specialist paediatric and neo-natal surgery from Temple Street Hospital to Crumlin hospital; the devastating impact this will have on the quality and range of services within Temple Street Hospital which caters for the largest child population in the area; the implications of this decision on plans to build a €200 million replacement hospital for Temple Street on the Mater Hospital site and to establish if the Minister is aware and has sanctioned the effective elimination of Temple Street Hospital.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be in order in accordance with Standing Order 31.
