Question:446 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the grant assistance he will provide to a project (details supplied) in County Mayo. [13462/02]
Written Answers. - Swimming Pool Projects.
Under the local authority swimming pool programme, 2000-02, which is administered by my Department, support is available towards the cost of swimming pools, toddler pools, sauna and steam rooms. Grant aid is allocated only when tenders have been received for the project and will be capped at the time of allocation. Some 46 applications are being processed under the current programme and these are at various stages of progress. The funding for the programme amounts to €57.15 million over the three year period 2000-02. The closing date for submissions under this programme was 31 July 2000. No application was received under the current programme in respect of the project to which the Deputy refers. Local authorities will be advised when a new swimming pool programme is initiated and it may be open to the project in question to apply for funding at that time.
