Vol. 553 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

Denis Naughten

Question:

562 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will appoint a second rheumatologist to the Western Health Board in view of the level of demand which is currently not catered for due to the waiting list. [13837/02]

The delivery of acute hospital services in the west is a matter for the Western Health Board. I understand that the board is currently preparing a strategic plan for the development of rheumatology services in its region.

Further development of rheumatology services in this region will be considered in the context of the board's strategic plan and the availability of additional development funding for acute hospital services.
