Vol. 553 No. 2

Written Answers. - Traffic Regulations.

Conor Lenihan

Question:

581 Mr. C. Lenihan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if he will consider restricting traffic into major urban areas where there is only one person actually in the vehicle (details supplied). [13506/02]

The Road Traffic Acts and regulations made under those Acts already provide an ample framework for the application of restrictions and prohibitions on the use of roads by traffic generally. There are no restrictions placed on the access of vehicles to urban centres based on occupancy. I have no proposals at present to apply such restrictions.

Question No. 582 answered with Question No. 579.
