Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Drugs Strategy.

Tony Gregory

Question:

1150 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health and Children if the necessary funding will be provided to the Eastern Regional Health Authority to meet treatment needs as outlined in the national drugs strategy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16813/02]

Health boards have received significant additional funding for drug treatment and rehabilitation services in recent years. In 2002, the Eastern Regional Health Authority received an additional €5.378 million for its drug misuse services. Funding for 2003 will be determined as part of the normal Estimates process. The issue of drug misuse continues to be a priority for this Government and it is committed to the implementation of the National Drugs Strategy, 2001-2008.
