Vol. 558 No. 2

Written Answers. - FÁS Training Programmes.

Tony Gregory

Question:

111 Mr. Gregory asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the projects referred to her Department for funding under the RAPID programme from the Dublin Central constituency; and the funding allocation she has made for these projects. [23841/02]

Responsibility for one project in the Dublin Central constituency has been accepted to date by FÁS for implementation under the RAPID programme. The schools job placement programme, with an estimated budget requirement of €81,000, will be based in the north west inner city. The project will target unemployed school leavers and provide training and employment prospects through work experience. It is intended that the project will be run by FÁS in conjunction with the Dublin Dockland Development Authority.

In addition to the above, 11 project applications under RAPID have been submitted by the Ballymun job centre, part of which targets groups in Dublin Central constituency area. Lead responsibility for the implementation of these projects will be clarified in consultation with FÁS as soon as possible.

Richard Bruton

Question:

112 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the progress made by the Disability Employment Network established under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness; and her plans to further develop the work of this network. [23842/02]

The Disability Employment Network is one of 24 projects funded by FÁS under the national supported employment programme for people with disabilities. Monitoring the progress of projects under the programme is a day-to-day matter for FÁS and I do not have any functional responsibility in this regard.

Projects approved under the current phase of the supported employment programme will be funded up to the end of March 2003. FÁS intends to announce a new call for proposals under the programme early in the new year. Existing and new projects will be eligible for consideration for funding. In this context it will be open to the Disability Employment Network to submit to FÁS any proposals it may have for consideration under the next phase of the programme.
