274 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if a decision has been made to grant RTE a licence fee increase; and his views on whether the funding levels for RTE should be left to an independent group outside of government control. [24370/02]

An application for an increase in the television licence fee has been received from RTE and is being considered at present. Future arrangements for the funding of RTE are being considered in the context of that application.
