Vol. 559 No. 6

Written Answers. - Nursing Staff.

Gerard Murphy

Question:

177 Mr. Murphy asked the Minister for Health and Children when funding will be provided to create the nursing post for an association (details supplied) in County Cork. [26962/02]

Responsibility for the provision of services in County Cork rests with the Southern Health Board. The Southern Health Board has been allocated additional revenue funding of €3.739 million for services for older people in 2003. It is a matter for the board to determine its priority projects for the year in the light of the available funding.

I have been informed by the Southern Health Board that at present the nursing post is a temporary post providing 30 hours service weekly. This post is to be upgraded to a full time 39 hour service and it is expected to be advertised early in 2003.
