Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Willie Penrose

Question:

416 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will approve an application for increased permanent accommodation by Sonna national school, County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1471/03]

The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website, www.education.ie. An application for improved accommodation has been received from the management authorities of Sonna national school. However my Department does not intend to put further large-scale projects into architectural planning during 2003. The project will be considered again in the context of the 2004 capital programme.

Billy Timmins

Question:

417 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the provision of adequate accommodation and equipment for a school (details supplied) in County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1472/03]

In view of the scale of the 2003 school building programme as now published, and having regard to the level of financial commitments to be met from projects already in construction, my Department does not envisage that it will be in a position during this year to initiate architectural planning on any further large scale building projects.
