Vol. 560 No. 2

Written Answers. - Teachers' Pay.

Enda Kenny

Question:

46 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science if part-time teachers who are involved in supervision and substitution work in second level schools have been paid for their services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2201/03]

Payment of part-time teachers involved in supervision and substitution and not on my Department's second level teacher payroll is a matter for the authorities of the schools concerned. My Department has provided funding to the schools for this purpose.

Enda Kenny

Question:

47 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a payment has not issued to a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2202/03]

The person referred to by the Deputy does not satisfy the qualification requirements for the purposes of appointment as a resource teacher in a second level school.

He has been appointed as an unqualified eligible part-time teacher for the current school year and is being paid at the first point of the common basic scale for teachers. As an unqualified teacher he does not qualify for the payment of qualification allowances.
