303 Dr. Cowley asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress regarding his Department's discussions with the executive of BreastCheck in regard to the extension of the BreastCheck programme nationally; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2308/03]
Discussions are ongoing involving my Department and the executive of BreastCheck concerning the extension of the programme, including associated costs. The linkages between BreastCheck and the existing symptomatic services which have received considerable investment in recent years are also being discussed. This investment is in line with the report of the sub-group of the national cancer forum on the development of services for symptomatic breast disease.
