Vol. 561 No. 1

Written Answers. - Carers Association.

John Perry

Question:

326 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children the situation with regard to the Carers Association as per correspondence (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3188/03]

My Department provides financial assistance to the Carers Association in two ways, first, by way of core funding which, in 2003, will be approximately €710,000 and, second, by providing funding to the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards, for the specific purpose of helping carers. Some of this funding is used to fund local projects and services undertaken by the association.

Responsibility for concluding service agreements with the Sligo branch of the Carers Association rests with the North-Western Health Board and my Department has asked the board to examine the issue raised in the Deputy's correspondence to see if a resolution can be found.
