Vol. 564 No. 2

Written Answers - Testing of Pesticides.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

134 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the pesticides which are tested by the Irish pesticide control service; and the pesticides used here for which no tests exist. [9202/03]

At present the pesticide control service analyses food for up to 89 different pesticides and metabolites. These active substances are listed in the pesticide residues in food 2001 report which can be viewed on the website www.pcs.agriculture.gov.ie. Also on this website is the pesticides 2003 report, which gives a full listing of those active substances which are currently authorised for use in plant production products in Ireland. A comparison of the two lists will indicate those pesticides which are not being tested for at present. A hard copy of both reports will be provided to the Deputy.
