Vol. 564 No. 5

Written Answers - Departmental Bodies.

Michael Noonan

Question:

261 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Health and Children when the expert group examining radiotherapy services will report to him; if he will publish the report; the names of the members of the expert group; if he will provide a short CV of each member; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9578/03]

As the Deputy is aware, an expert review group on radiotherapy services was established to examine the appropriate future development of radiotherapy services. The group has conducted a national assessment of needs for radiotherapy services having regard to the demography and epidemiology of cancer and the gaps in current service provision.

The work of the expert review group on radiotherapy services is currently in the final stages of drafting and is due to be submitted to me shortly. The provision of additional radiotherapy services will be considered in the context of the report of the expert working group. Following consideration of the report, proposals will be submitted to Government for consideration.
I have written to the Deputy under separate cover in relation to the membership of the group.
