Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Board Staff.

Paul McGrath

Question:

509 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children if there is a prohibition on health board employees becoming elected members of local authorities. [12158/03]

Under the Health Act 1970 the chief executive officer of a health board is responsible, in the first instance, for determining the terms and conditions of employment for health board employees. My Department has accordingly written to each chief executive officer in relation to the matter raised by the Deputy, and a composite reply setting out the position in respect of each health board will be issued as soon as possible.
