Vol. 567 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Dan Neville

Question:

85 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when 20% of balance of beef premia will be awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [14089/03]

The person named submitted six applications under the special beef premium scheme 2002 listing 98 animals.

Advance payments, at the rate of 80% of premium, issued during January and March 2003. It has not been possible to finalise the regional quota overshoot under the scheme for 2002 as my Department is awaiting clarification from the European Commission on the application of the relevant EU regulations. A decision will be made on the processing of balancing payments in respect of special beef premium for applicants with in excess of 50 animals as soon as this clarification is received.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

86 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the 20% of the 2002 suckler cow grant and the ewe premium scheme has not been awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Galway. [14090/03]

The person named applied for premium on 25 animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme on 28 June 2002. An advance payment of €4,343.13 issued on 28 November 2002. A problem arose with tag number VNHV0068V when CMMS records showed it to have been slaughtered during the retention period. A query issued to the person named on 24 March 2003 on this matter, and a reply was received in which the person named has nominated a replacement animal. This amendment has now been made, and payment of the balance of the suckler cow premium will be made shortly.

Payment under the 2002 ewe premium scheme was made to the person named on 16 December 2002. The ewe premium national envelope payment has now been cleared and payment will issue shortly.

Denis Naughten

Question:

87 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a REP scheme payment will be approved for a person (details supplied), which his Department is holding up due to the claim that plots are unmarked on the plan even though the Carrick-on-Shannon office has returned the plan with the plots marked in; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14127/03]

The person named had omitted to include the LPIS numbers on the maps which he submitted with his application for payment on 10 February 2003. My Department wrote to him on 24 March 2003 asking him to rectify this. He resubmitted the material on 30 April with the necessary additions, and I expect that his payment will be approved within the next ten days.
