Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin-Monaghan Bombings.

Finian McGrath

Question:

687 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will meet the families of the Dublin-Monaghan bombings, Justice for the Forgotten, as soon as possible to give them the maximum support, advice and assistance. [15963/03]

I am meeting with representatives from the Justice for the Forgotten group next week. Since May 2001 my Department has provided financial support to Justice for the Forgotten to establish and maintain a family service support centre to provide counselling and general support to those injured and bereaved in the Dublin and Monaghan bombings. In May 2001 the Government approved the provision of IR£162,000 or €205,700 per annum for the following year and also subsequent financial provision in 2002 of an amount to be determined. The level of funding was subsequently increased from €51,000 per quarter to €64,000 per quarter. It is envisaged that future funding will be brought within the ambit of a remembrance fund to address the needs of those bereaved and injured in this jurisdiction as a result of the conflict in the North.
