Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Jack Wall

Question:

689 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a person (details supplied) will be supplied with a visa to visit their daughter and granddaughter here in view of the fact that they and their family have supplied all the necessary information requested in regard to the application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15967/03]

The visa application in question was refused in May 2003 because it had not been established, on the basis of the documentation supplied to my Department, that the applicant would observe the conditions of a visit visa. In particular, it was felt that the applicant had not displayed sufficient evidence of her obligations to return home following her proposed visit. It is open to the applicant to appeal against the refusal by writing to the visa appeals officer in my Department. In this regard, the immigration division, which includes the visa office, has moved to 13-14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2.
