Vol. 568 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Enda Kenny

Question:

187 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive suckler cow, beef premium and extensification payments; the reason for the delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17069/03]

An application for premium on five animals under the 2002 suckler cow scheme was received on 8 April 2002 under this herd number. Payment of the 80% advance instalment was made on 16 October 2002.

Two applications were submitted in respect of a total of six animals under the 2002 special beef premium scheme. These applications were processed and cleared for payment in the name of the previous owner of the herd number. As the herdnumber was not registered to the person named at the time of application for special beef premium payment could not issue.

However, the district livestock office has been informed that the herdowner in whose name the application was made is deceased. Registration details of this herd number have now been amended and my Department is awaiting grant of probate. On receipt of this, arrangements will be made to issue all outstanding payments in relation to bovine schemes for 2002.

Extensification premium for 2002 cannot be issued until the 2002 special beef premium and 2002 suckler cow premium balancing payments have been paid.
