Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Third Level Courses.

Denis Naughten

Question:

653 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason students attending their first year occupational therapy course at NUIG have been informed that the course has been cancelled; the action his Department is taking to address this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20841/03]

The accreditation of the occupational therapy programme at NUI Galway is a matter for resolution between the university and the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland, as accrediting body. I am pleased to advise the Deputy of my understanding that good progress has now been made between the two parties in this regard. As a result, the students have now been informed by NUI Galway that the programme is going ahead as planned.
