Vol. 571 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Deasy

Question:

270 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science the stage of the project planning that has been reached for providing a replacement school (details supplied) in County Waterford in view of the substandard conditions of the present school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21439/03]

Approval has been given for the preparation of drawings and tender documentation for the extension to, and refurbishment of, the existing school building. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on projects, including this project, which could not be included in this year's programme. In the meantime, individual schools should continue to use their devolved grant to deal with any urgent health and health and safety issues.
