Vol. 577 No. 3

Written Answers. - Adult Education.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

81 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans he has to increase expenditure on adult and continuing education in 2004 in view of the growing demand in this area; if he will consider including a separate heading in his Department's Estimates in order to give a clearer indication of resources spent in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30937/03]

The abridged Estimates and the budget are the first stages in the process of determining specific allocations, improvements and initiatives across all sectors of education for the following financial year. In keeping with normal practice, the Department has reviewed and adjusted expenditure provisions in the light of more up-to-date outturn figures for 2003 and prior to publication of the 2004 Revised Estimates Volume.
