Vol. 658 No. 1

Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32.

Anois, iarratais chun tairisceana a dhéanamh an Dáil a chur ar athló faoi Bhuan-Ordú 32. We will now deal with requests to move the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the failure to sanction funding for a new extension at Our Lady's School, Templeogue, work on which is due to commence this month following its inclusion in the list of 22 schools announced for immediate construction by the then Minister for Education and Science, Deputy Hanafin, in a press statement in January 2007. The decision to reduce investment in education is inconsistent with all the expert advice, including that of Forfás and the utterances of the Taoiseach when Minister for Finance.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need for the HSE to outline why it employed an outside agency to carry out a review of radiology at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, in 2006; the reason for such a review; if concerns were expressed at the time by consultants in radiology in regard to work practices and staffing levels; and if the HSE will now publish a report on the actions taken since, in view of the fact that more than 4,000 X-rays of patients at the hospital are being reviewed as a direct result of misdiagnoses.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the continuing potential risk to human health and marine ecosystems in the Cork Harbour region due to toxic and hazardous waste at the former Irish ISPAT site at Haulbowline.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the threat of massive Government cutbacks which are set to follow its blatant mismanagement of the wealth of the boom years; the resulting economic havoc; and the expected budget deficit of more than €3 billion as the construction industry crumbles around us.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to debate the following matter of urgent national importance, namely, the absence of a clear, identifiable leadership within the HSE to implement A Vision for Change, the report of the expert group on mental health policy and, the recent report of the independent monitoring group that considers that the HSE was mistaken in its decision not to implement the recommendation to establish a national mental health service directorate to drive the changes recommended in the report and for the Dáil to debate the second independent report on implementation of the recommendations contained in A Vision for Change.

Tar éis breithnithe a dhéanamh ar na nithe ardaithe, níl siad in ord faoi Bhuan-Ordú 32. Having considered the matters raised, they are not in order under Standing Order 32.
