Vol. 16 No. 7

Electoral (Registration Appeals) Bill, 1932—Second Stage.

Question proposed: "That the Bill be now read a Second Time."

This is a Bill to do away with the position of revising barrister in Dublin. It means a saving of a few hundred pounds, but even a few hundred pounds are not to be lightly thrown away or given away these times. Probably the office would have been abolished some years ago were it not that there was a gentleman holding the office who had occupied the position for a number of years and it was after his death that the late Minister decided that no other appointment should be made to the office. The gentleman in question was the late Mr. R.J. Kelly, who was probably well known to members of the Seanad. Following his death it was decided that the Oireachtas should be asked to abolish the post.

Question put and agreed to.
Ordered—That the Committee Stage be taken on Wednesday, 14th December.
