Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 28 Mar 1985

Vol. 107 No. 13

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1 and 2 today and to complete them both. The question of whether we should take a break is something which can be discussed as time goes on. If the debate is still flourishing, I propose we adjourn from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

I have already indicated to Senators that the House will be meeting next Tuesday 2 April 1985. It is proposed that the House should meet at 12 noon to take the Electricity Supply (Amendment) Bill and the Insurance (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill.

As the Leader of the House mentioned the Electricity Supply (Amendment) Bill, all I want to say is that I wish the Government showed the same urgency in producing legislation to deal with homelessness as they do in producing legislation to protect the ESB when the Supreme Court finds that they are in breach of the people's constitutional rights. It is a matter of great regret that apparently powerful bodies like the ESB can concentrate the minds of the Government. The homeless apparently have to wait their turn in the long queue for concern.

Order of Business agreed to.
