Vol. 110 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. It is proposed to suspend the sitting from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and at 6.30 p.m. to take No. 6. No. 6 is a Private Members' motion in the name of the Fianna Fáil group in regard to the question of teachers' pay, and in respect of this there is a Government amendment. Events have rather overtaken us so that the division of opinion represented by the motion and the amendment has now been considerably narrowed. It is not indeed clear whether it has been so completely narrowed that each of us could vote for one another's motions. I would propose to the House that it would be inappropriate for us to complete this business and to proceed to a vote this evening. Accordingly, I am suggesting that only one hour of the one and a half hours remaining be taken today.

Order of Business agreed to.
