133 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science the arrangements her Department has in place for students who are suddenly bereaved during the course of their examinations to allow them complete their examinations at a later and more appropriate date; if she will consider the plight of such students placed in this unenviable position; and if she will make a statement on the matter. On foot of a Government decision, I formally established the State Examinations Commission on 6 March 2003. The commission now has statutory responsibility for operational matters relating to the certificate examinations. Accordingly, I have passed your query to the chief executive officer of the commission for direct reply.
