View answerThe Government is committed to the establishment of a DNA database to assist the Garda Síochána in the investigation of crime. The Criminal Justice (Forensic Evidence and DNA Database System) Bill, which will provide for the establishment and operation of the database, is included in the 'A list' of the Government Legislation Programme with a view to its publication this term and its enactment later this year.
