In what is now a traditional post-budget activity, staff of the PBO were on hand at a pop-up information stand to give some expert insight into the Budget Statement delivered on 10 October.

The PBO is an independent and specialist unit within the Houses of the Oireachtas Service that is a key source of economic and budgetary intelligence, and it published its preliminary review of Budget 2024 on the night of the Budget, which was delivered on 10 October.  On the following day, staff from the PBO were available to Members and staff at a location in LH2000 to provide advice, guidance and further information on the key spending and taxation elements of the Budget as outlined in its preliminary review.

The PBO has recently streamlined its web presence with the aim of getting the most accurate and insightful information to Members and the public and informing budgetary debate in a positive way.

It has launched a new PBO | Insight series of interactive data visualisations and reports that break down financial and economic events and trends so readers can get straight to the heart of an issue. It has launched a new repository of data-led financial tools and visualisations called PBO | Explorer, which will help people see past numbers to the real effects of economic and budgetary measures. With PBO | Essentials, it has launched a curated resource of reference and guidance documents to help people understand the fundamentals in financial concepts.
