Finance Committee to discuss pre-Budget submissions from civil society and business groups

The Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform will begin an overview of 2014 pre-Budget submissions tomorrow, Wednesday, 11th September 2013 when it meets with representatives from civil society groups.

The schedule for tomorrow’s meeting is:

10:00am to 11:15am – Social Justice Ireland; TASC.

11:30am to 1:00pm - Society of St. Vincent de Paul; Barnardos; Respond Housing Association; Threshold; Focus Ireland; Simon Communities Ireland.

2:00pm to 4:00pm - Chambers Ireland; Small Firms Association; Irish Business and Employers’ Confederation.

4:15pm to 5.30pm - Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies Ireland; Society of Chartered Surveyors; National Off-Licence Association.

Committee Vice Chairman Liam Twomey TD said: “Pre-Budget engagement is an important component of this Committee’s work and we will wish to explore the budgetary challenges facing the State and how they may impact on various groups. Tomorrow, we will engage with groups from the social pillar and business sectors on issues raised in their pre-Budget submissions. It is an opportunity for Members to explore various topics of concern and priorities for the groups engage ahead of next month’s Budget. At our meeting tomorrow we will concentrate on submissions that are related to revenue or fiscal matters while, on Thursday, we will consider those submissions which largely relate to social and/or expenditure matters.”

These meetings will start at 10am on Wednesday, 11th September 2013 in Committee Room 1, Leinster House 2000.
