Joint Committee on Climate Action to continue Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2020

The Joint Committee on Climate Action will continue Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2020 when it meets tomorrow,  Wednesday, 21 October, in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House.

The meeting at 11.30am will hear from Professor John Sweeney, Emeritus Professor of Geography at NUI Maynooth, and Dr Andrew Jackson of UCD School of Law and Climate Case Ireland.

The Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2020 proposes that Ireland moves to a climate neutral economy and net zero emissions by 2050.

Committee Chairman Deputy Brian Leddin said: “Following our initial engagements last week, the Committee looks forward to hearing the views of Professor Sweeney and Dr Jackson as Members continue Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of this key legislation.”

The Joint Committee on Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
