Committee of Public Accounts to discuss C&AG’s 2019 accounts and reports for the Department of Finance, including Central Fund and Apple Escrow Account

The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will meet tomorrow, Thursday, November 5, to consider the Comptroller and Auditor General’s Appropriation Accounts, and chapters from his 2019 Report, with the Department of Finance.

Chaired by Deputy Brian Stanley, the meeting at 11.30am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from the C&AG, Seamus McCarthy, followed by the Secretary General, Derek Moran, and officials from the Department.

The accounts and reports to be examined are:

Deputy Stanley said: “The C&AG’s 2019 accounts and reports for the Department of Finance raise a number of important issues for the Committee, including a payment from the Central Fund made to Irish Water in 2019 and the reduction of €249 million last year in the net assets held in the Apple Escrow Account. The Committee looks forward to engaging with the Secretary General and his officials on these and other matters raised by the C&AG.”

The PAC is a standing committee of Dáil Éireann which focuses on ensuring public services are run efficiently and achieve value for money.
