Foreign Affairs Committee to discuss peace agreement in Colombia

The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence will discuss the implementation of the 2016 peace agreement in Colombia at a meeting in Leinster House, tomorrow, Tuesday, 1 June at 12.30pm.

Presidential Counsellor for Stabilisation and Consolidation Emilio José Archila Peñalosa and Ambassador of Colombia in Ireland H.E. Patricia Cortés Ortiz will join the Committee for the discussion.

Speaking before the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Charlie Flanagan TD said: “The Committee looks forward to hearing about the implementation of the peace agreement and the current challenges that pertain. Mr. Archila, Presidential Counsellor for Stabilisation and Consolidation, whose office oversees the articulation of Colombian institutions to guarantee the implementation of the Agreement and who will be joining the meeting virtually from Bogota, is in a unique position to provide an update on the 2016 peace deal."
