Committee on Budgetary Oversight to meet IFAC and Finance Minister

21 Sep 2021, 16:42

The Committee on Budgetary Oversight will meet officials from the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council and the Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe this week as part of its pre-Budget 2022 scrutiny process.

IFAC chairman Sebastian Barnes and chief economist Dr Eddie Casey are among the organisation’s representatives scheduled to appear before the Committee tomorrow, Wednesday 22 September in Committee Room 4 at 3.30pm.

Minister Donohoe will appear before the Committee on Thursday, 23 September, in Committee Room 1 at 2pm.

Committee Cathaoirleach Neasa Hourigan TD said: “IFAC’s Pre-Budget 2022 Statement published last week provides independent external analysis of the Government’s official economic forecasts, spending plans and policies and fiscal stance. This is a valuable opportunity to meet with IFAC to discuss and consider its views. It is also timely to meet with IFAC before our meeting with the Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe to discuss preparation for the impending Budget.”
