Gender Equality Committee to discuss pay and workplace conditions with representatives from Ibec, WorkEqual, and SIPTU

The Joint Committee on Gender Equality will meet on Thursday, October 5th to discuss the recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality regarding Pay and Workplace Conditions with representatives from Ibec, WorkEqual and SIPTU.

The Committee will discuss recommendations 32-36 of the report which can be read in full here.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House between 09:15-12:00.

The following representatives are due to appear.
• Angela Smith – CEO, WorkEqual
• Sonya Lennon – Founder, WorkEqual
• Pauline O’Hare – Senior Employment Law Manager, Irish Business Employers Confederation (Ibec)
• Dr Kara McGann – Head of Social Policy, Irish Business Employers Confederation (Ibec)
• Ethel Buckely – Deputy Secretary General, SIPTU
• Michael Taft – Senior Researcher, SIPTU

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Ivana Bacik said: “We look forward to resuming our discussion on the recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality relating to pay and workplace conditions following our discussion with the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar last week.”

“Ibec, WorkEqual and Siptu have differing views on gender quotas, flexible working, how best to close the gender pay gap and how to improve workplace conditions so we look forward to robust engagement with representatives.”
