Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to meet Commission for Regulation of Utilities for general oversight discussion

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 31 January, at 11am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House with representatives from the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) for an engagement on general oversight.

The CRU will be represented by Aoife MacEvilly, Chairperson; Paul McGowan, Commissioner; Jim Gannon, Commissioner; John Melvin, Director of Security of Supply and Wholesale; Phil Hemmingway, Director of Decarbonisation; Karen Kavanagh, Director of Networks and Economic Regulation; and Karen Trant, Director of Customer Policy and Protection.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “The CRU is accountable to this Committee and we plan to have regular oversight engagements with them. Areas of interest for this meeting include energy security and supply, the impact of high energy prices on domestic customers and businesses and measures to protect vulnerable customers, data centres, and energy transition in Ireland and as part of the wider European market. The Committee looks forward to discussing these and related matters with Ms MacEvilly and her colleagues.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
