Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to discuss building reform regulations in terms of Climate Action Plan

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 13 February, with officials from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage to discuss the building reform regulations in terms of the Climate Action Plan.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 11am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to discuss building regulations and embodied carbon and building practices in the context of the Climate Action Plan with Department officials.

"Members are particularly interested in hearing about how the Climate Action Plan is taken into account as part of the Housing For All plan for the construction of new homes, as well as refurbishment of existing properties which can be brought back into use for much-needed accommodation in our towns and cities.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
