Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage to discuss review of building fire safety regulations with Dublin Fire Brigade

The Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 23 May, to discuss the Review of Part B (Fire Safety) of Building Regulations with Dublin Fire Brigade, represented by the Chief Fire Officer Dennis Keeley.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 3pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Steven Matthews said: “Under the Fire Services Acts, Fire Authorities such as Dublin Fire Brigade enforce the Building Control Regulations and ensure fire safety compliance through good building design in in both new and existing buildings. They also promote fire safety through education and advice to help ensure standards are being adhered to in existing buildings.

“The Committee welcomes Mr Keeley and looks forward to discussing the ongoing review of fire safety building regulations announced earlier this year by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage.”

The Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
