Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach to meet with Minister for Health regarding public service secondments

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 22 June, with the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD, to discuss the issue of public service secondments.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 2pm in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John McGuinness said: “The Committee welcomes this meeting with Minister Donnelly as part of our examination of public service secondments in the context of the proposed secondment of the former Chief Medical Officer to the position of Professor of Public Health Leadership and Strategy at Trinity College Dublin.

“We have previously discussed this issue with the Secretary General of the Department of Health and the Secretary General of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, and we now look forward to hearing from the Minister on this matter of public importance.”

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
