Committee of Public Accounts to discuss correspondence received and work programme for coming Dáil term

20 Sep 2023, 14:00

The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will meet at 9.30am tomorrow, Thursday, 21 September, in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House to discuss correspondence received, accounts and financial statements, the Committee’s work programme and business of the Committee.

PAC Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Stanley said: “This is the Committee’s first public meeting following the summer recess and there is a large body of correspondence to consider regarding several matters we are examining. This includes a significant delivery of documents last week from RTÉ which were requested by the Committee following our meetings with the RTÉ board and senior executives in July as part of our examination of the transparency of RTÉ’s reporting of payments to its former presenter Ryan Tubridy, and related contractual, corporate governance, and accounting arrangements.

“The Committee will also consider its work programme over the coming Dáil term, which includes meetings in the coming weeks to examine matters involving NAMA, the HSE, RTÉ and development of the new National Children’s Hospital. These all involve important matters of public interest, and we look forward to detailed examination of the issues involved to ensure accountability and transparency in the allocation, spending and management of public money so that taxpayers receive value for money for every euro spent on their behalf.”

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

PAC is a standing committee of Dáil Éireann which focuses on ensuring public services are run efficiently and achieve value for money. Further information on the role and remit of the Committee can be found here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
