Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage to discuss Review of National Planning Framework and Climate Targets

The Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 26 September, for discussions on the Review of National Planning Framework and Climate Targets for the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

The meeting at 3pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from representatives from the National Transport Authority, the Climate Change Advisory Council, Irish Planning Institute and the Office of the Planning Regulator.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Steven Matthews said: “The Review of National Planning Framework and Climate Targets was launched by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage in June. The review is designed to take into account the significant developments and changes that have taken place since the NPF was launched in 2018. This includes population growth, housing and transport demands, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the for alignment of policy across Government to meet our climate targets under the Climate Action Plan 2023.The Committee looks forward to discussing the review and related matters with our stakeholders.”

The Joint Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
